Community Safety in Tanzania

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

– Ephesians 4:11–12 NIV

This month, a follow-up team sent to serve and equip God’s people in Tanzania returned with highlights from the field. By means of our Community Safety Initiative, our team trained locals the power of listening to others’ stories with love and compassion, sharing the value of an emotionally healthy community.

The Tanzania CSI training included a review of the fruits of the Spirit and broke down into detail what each fruit means practically in the context of everyday Tanzanian life. We as followers of Christ desire that our lives overflow with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; perhaps nowhere are these traits more powerful and necessary than with those who have been through trauma. Living out the fruits of the Spirit is especially important with this population, and our team helped emphasize and equip local leaders for such a task.

What a great privilege it is to partner with church and local leaders around the globe!
